This page is dedicated to the memory of our founder, Dick Bellerud.
January 11, 1938 – February 16th, 2011
Dick Bellerud was born January 11, 1938 in Grafton ND. He grew up in Grafton and graduated from Grafton High School in 1955. At the age of 17, Dick began working for Elmer Altendorf Trucking. In 1960, Dick married Marie Dufault, the love of his life. In 1970 he began a brokering business “Dick Bellerud Trucking” in Grafton ND. In 1990 Dick Bellerud Trucking moved to Fargo ND and became Bellerud Transport, which was owned and operated with Dick’s son Larry. Dick was extremely active in the family business up until February 2011 when he passed away.
Dick Bellerud’s memory lives on in many. Over the years he helped build and operate Bellerud Transport with his son Larry. He has supported and sponsored multiple sports teams and racecars including one of the World Of Outlaw’s leading racers, Donny Schatz. In a writing following Dick’s passing Donny wrote:
“Today we lost a great man. A man that meant a lot to me and someone I owe a great deal to. Many of you know that I’ve been fortunate enough to race with the World of Outlaws since 1997. My parents helped get me out on the road and another person that really helped make my dream a reality was Dick Bellerud.”
Dick was an entrepreneur and an inspiration to many. His vision and foundation helped make Bellerud Transport what it is today.
